Corporate Responsibility

We, at MARUHAN Japan Bank Cambodia, a member of MARUHAN Japan ASEAN Financial Group, are working hard to develop the Cambodian banking industry and promote Cambodia as an attractive commercial and investment location for people throughout the ASEAN region.

We are also committed to promoting growth and wellbeing in the communities in which we serve and to operating responsibly, and with the needs of society in mind, at all times.

Since we opened our business in Cambodia in 2008, we are proud to have provided financial and in-kind assistance to various worthy Cambodian-based projects.

These have included:

  • Construction of water wells in Prey Veng province.
  • Construction of the new ‘Protheat Junior High School’ in Prey Veng province.
  • Donations to pagodas and poor communities in Kandal province.
  • Sponsorship of the PSE sports program, which provides sporting opportunities for children from extremely poor families who are living and/or working around city garbage dumps.
  • Sponsorship of a football team to the Homeless World Cup in Milan, Italy in 2009.
  • Sponsorship of an educational HIV prevention TV series.
  • Sponsorship of a Fun Run, in conjunction with PSE, in aid of vocational training programmes for disadvantaged young people.
  • Sponsorship of PSE’s ambitious ‘Be A Hero’ campaign (http://beahero-pse.org/) which aims to raise $300,000 to send 500 underprivileged children to school

As you can see, we tend to focus on youth related projects. This is because we believe that investments in supporting Cambodia’s youth todayare the key to a bright tomorrow for Cambodia.

These efforts are part of a wider mission to give even the most disadvantaged something to smile about.
